I need dark red with translucent effect. I can't obtain what I really want. With bolder colors I usually have successes. But when I mix the color with white translucent clay it looks like not red but like raspberry color. Anyway I am posting the photos of my last tests as I promised to my Flickr buddies. The result is not really good but it is much better than my first try. Here I used Fimo brand clays. Cherry red (only red I have, maybe I have to try with indian red?!) ,chocolate brown, black and white translucent!
Sorry for bad photos! I am trying to make an ink jet transfer right now (burnished the image and waiting to sit). It seems to be very confusing. Yesterday I tried it with a Ilford professional photo paper though I never heard that paper works with the ink jet transfer. It didn't work as I expected. Now I am using HP brochure, flyers paper. From Donna Kato's blog I found that Susan Tourney used the paper so did Donna and she says the image transfers very well onto the clay but needs to be coated to protect. I am not really sure if I bought the right paper. Anyway I can see now the image begins to show through the paper. Another half an hour and I will bake it.
Since last week I opened a forum on PCC to know about which printer is suitable for image transferring. I am advised to buy laser printer or HP which works with vivera ink or any ink jet printer that works with pigment ink. I went to Fnack for a later version of HP all-in-one but a shop assistant guy persuaded me to buy Canon multifunctional printer. I really wanted to buy HP as I found people on the forum uses mostly HP. But I bought Canon. He just didn't stop explaining Canon is great and he has the same one at home. I even forgot about the pigment ink. When I came home I found that the printer uses dye ink (also black pigment ink for photo copy). About the quality of the printing is really good. I am satisfied. About the transfer I don't still know. I am just going to put the clay into the oven right now....

I am really disappointed. It didn't work. :( Wrong paper or wrong printer or wrong ink?!

Some more pieces

I just wanted something very African. Same time I really struggled to try new techniques with alcohol inks. And I had a lot of unfinished projects needed to be finished.
I was bit nervous thinking if I can't sell any of my pieces as it was my first try selling of my works on the market. But I could sell enough pieces for two days even there weren't many people that I expected. I had so much fun except my bad French. It wasn't easy to explain how I made my pieces as French is not my maternal language.
Before I left my home for the Marché I wanted to take some photos of the pieces quickly but butteries gone. I came back home at 9 in the evening and forgot to recharge the batteries. About buying new batteries was out of my mind. Crazy! So last night I took some photos of my unsold pieces and uploaded to Flickr. Now I don't have any proof of my pieces that I was quite satisfied with. :( But I have a little hope that I can have a photo as I noticed the woman who organized this event took my photo when I was explaining a piece to one customer.
One thing that made me proud is many people surprised when I said they are from Fimo. In here most people think it is for children. I had to say they are from Fimo but not polymer clay as the word "polymer" is not familiar here. One woman was really curious about how I made them. She was wearing a necklace that she made herself. It was from simple marbled beads but the colours were nice. I explained her quiet a lot tips and techniques I know. Even she didn't know about sanding and buffing. Why she didn't asked me to give some courses? I am ready to share what I know. :) he he he... Another one woman scratching my inked pendant and asked if it was really from pc because it was shiny. First try on heart shaped vessel. I made a support from swap clay first then put the clay around and added gold leaf. A lot of fun.

Made with leftover from the heart above.
Normally I tried to do faux opal but it didn't work because translucent clay over the support bead is too thick. So the effect is not clear enough. Then I decided to varnish. I added some pink powder in it.

Since I received the book I can't stop reading. Wow! A fantastic book. I really want to try the techniques. Only thing left is finding the materials on the book. Here in Switzerland we don't always have such materiels like ones in the US.

Polymer clay infection

I can't stop thinking about polymer clay. It makes me crazy sometimes. I see almost everything in polymer clay. I thought I would never change my amigurumi interest by something else. But since I discovered polymer clay I am addicted to this. (even I don't wear necklaces except a chain)
Fortunately polymer clay world is full of generous people. They are thousands of lessons and tutorials on the webs that makes me understand more about this media. But I am messing much that me makes to order a book. I am impatient to receive my book. It is Donna Kato's new book. I am really impatient to have it. I don't know how much time it will take to receive it. Meanwhile I am still doing stupid things. But they are not all stupid. I am not optimist that makes me always unsatisfied with my things.
I started to sell some of my creations on ricardo.ch thinking just spending my money to buy the materials is not so clever idea. Since about 2 weeks I haven't sold any item. I hope I will some day. Never give up.
Yesterday night I started to play with a new technique I found on the internet. Maggie Maggio's torn paper effect. I liked it much. So much fun. To night I hope I will finish what I started and be able to post it. Only thing is I am not sure about the colors I've chosen. It is always a big problem for me choosing right color and combination.
